Rating System Breakdown
My ratings consist of three categories
- my thoughts on the premise, story line and plot (50%);
- my thoughts on the characters and their interactions with each other (25%); and
- how much I enjoyed the content itself (25%).
For visual media, if the art and sound is really impressive, that goes into the enjoyment category.
Since the story is the most important part of the content, my score for that category holds the most weight.
Below is the scoring scale and what each number means.
Great | Good | Fine | Bad |
9-10: Fantastic! Loved these! No real problems with the plot, no nitpicks, satisfied with the ending, would definitely watch again and again. 100% recommend to others. | 8: Enjoyed these! Had some problems, but I think they’re worth the watch. I recommend these to others.
7: Good. Had more flaws than I would have liked, but nothing that really turned me away. I recommend some of these. | 6: Barely positive. Not neutral, because there were things or characters I enjoyed, but other than that, nothing stands out.
5: True neutral. I don’t hate them, I don’t love them. In my mind, the most notable thing about these media are that they exist.
4: Just good enough to not be bad. Had enough things I didn’t like to put them below 5, but they're not so terrible as to warrant a 3 or below. | 3: Pushing it. Could have had potential, but ended up squandering it. Had moments where it was genuinely funny or touching or just ironically bad, but overall, not worth my time.
1-2: Absolutely horrible. Please don’t ever let me go near it again. Had a bad plot, or insufferably annoying characters, or both issues and more. I will warn people not to watch these. |
